Samsung has lastly debuted the 4TB model of its Samsung 990 Pro NVMe SSD — and, sadly, you’ll pay for it. But there’s excellent news on that entrance, too.
Samsung’s 990 Pro earned itself an Editors’ Choice award in our 2022 evaluate of its 1TB and 2TB drives. Remember, these are PCIe 4.0 SSDs, in order that they don’t fall into the class of the quickest SSDs available in the market in our roundup of the most effective SSDs.
The 990 Pro 4TB SSDs do function sequential learn speeds of seven,450MBps and write speeds of 6,900MBps, nevertheless, with random learn and write speeds of 1,600K and 1,550K IO’s per second, respectively. Total bytes written are as much as 2,400 terabytes.
The downside? Samsung can also be charging customers a fairly penny: $344.99 for a model with out a heatsink and $354.99 for a model with a heatsink put in. They go on sale in October.
However, there’s hope. Samsung debuted the 1TB and 2TB fashions for $169.99 and $239.99, respectively. Today, at press time, Amazon has slashed the worth of the 1TB 990 Pro to only $74.99, or 56 % off, and the 2TB model is simply $134.99 — that’s 53 % off the standard worth. Versions with the heatsinks connected aren’t far more.
All meaning is that, sure, costs for 4TB will come down. As all the time, you’ll simply have to attend a bit.
